Printer Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

Our candidate will support various types of equipment, office and warehouse fulfillment with high output in production and personalization. We are seeking a hardworking, dedicated candidate who is self-motivated, reliable, receptive to direction and is able to work with all employees; from our seasonal staff to the COO. Safety is a primary focus in this position.

The associate in this position is responsible for maintenance and repair of all inkjet and laser printers within production operation, prepare written instruction for maintenance safety for the facility. Additional duties include daily repair of production equipment; monthly preventative maintenance for laser engraving, embroidery and other various decorating equipment.

Schedule and expectation:

Due to the seasonality of our business, our peak seasons can be demanding. During those times, extended hours including mandatory 10 and 12 hour days, and required weekend hours during all peak periods are needed. Flexibility to change shifts for short periods of time may be needed.

  • In depth knowledge of ink jet printers. Wide format, Grand format and various direct to substrate, or direct to garment printers.
  • Knowledge of laser printers
  • Knowledge of RIP software
  • Understanding color management. Experience building color profiles is a plus.
  • Knowledge of off line equipment; cutters, laminating equipment, etc.
  • Experience in a high volume Production or Warehouse environment.
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Self-starter, highly motivated.
  • Experience working on Production, Warehouse and building equipment a plus.
  • Must have a High School diploma or higher education. A combination of education, training or Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
Additional Responsibilities:
  • The associate will be expected to prioritize a list of tasks based on production needs. Communicate with vendors and the technical support they offer.
  • The candidate will continue to educate themselves on RIP software, color management software and various software.
  • Gain knowledge of the print and digital decoration industry, ability to assess future needs and improvements - effectively communicate benefits of new solutions.
  • Create training documents, teach employees about the equipment, operations and maintenance needs. Become the equipment expert and share your knowledge with extended teams.
Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Associate must be physically capable to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must communicate with the various Operational supervisors and Managers as well as Office Managers and personnel. Must be adept at working on a personal computer; reading information from printed materials and computer screens. Must be able to read and follow machine manuals, working with intricate parts, and working in the production and warehouse areas. The position also requires physical demands on the body such as standing, squatting, kneeling, and bending for a long periods of time. Attention to detail and the capability to be aware of what is around you is critical for safety reasons.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee can either be in a typical office environment with a moderate noise level or in a warehouse environment with a moderate to high noise level. This individual will spend most of their time in a warehouse and production environment.

Measure of Effectiveness:

This position provides valuable support to the Operation. The effectiveness and timeliness of repairing production equipment is crucial to the operation. The ability to maintain and repair equipment, and keep it operating is key. The ability to prioritize and maintain multiple projects at once is a must. Maintaining a professional relationship with vendors is crucial to the position.
